报告题目：Effects of diabetes on prostate and ovarian cancer: data analysis and modeling study
报告摘要：Roughly 30 million people in the United States are living with diabetes, and of these, 90-95% have type 2 diabetes. A study conducted by Vrachnis et al. found that there was an increased risk of ovarian cancer in patients with type 2 diabetes. This increased risk is thought to be due of the role glucose plays in cancer cell proliferation, as glucose can act as an energy source for the cancer cells. The goal of this research is to conduct case study on the impact of diabetes on prostate cancer and ovarian cancer with an intension to use mathematic modeling prodicting cancer growth and progression in these environments using diabetic patients. We hope the outcome of this study will help provide insight into environments best suited for cancer survival and growth.
个人简历: 范桂红，主要研究领域为生物数学、媒介传染病模型，及时滞微分方程的稳定性和分支分析。2009年于麦克马斯特大学（McMaster University）获得应用数学专业硕士和博士学位，分别于2009-2013年在加拿大约克大学和美国亚立桑拿大学做博士后。于2013开始在哥伦布州立大学开始工作。在微分方程的现已发表学术论文20余篇。
